For statisticians, Joe Giard's qualifications would insue very little excitement. However, to sports memorabilia collectors with particular interest in acquiring a 1927 New York Yankees collection of signatures, he means quite a bit. His sole year in pinstripes with the New York Yankees during the 1927 season, helps pinpoint team signed mediums such as this very lot, and Giard remains a hole to fill for many aspiring collectors. Let us not get too caught up with Mr. Giard. One of the other two signatures on this page is that of Babe Ruth - a name everyone knows. A gorgeous, sprawling autograph of Ruth with quotations is found below Giard and fellow '27 teammate Mike Gazella. Ruth signatures are not uncommon to find in nearly every major auction, but few will compare to this exemplar. All three signatures are bold, rating minimum '9-10' in strength. This piece measures approximately 5" x 5." Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication(JSA).

The Roth Collection consists of a large collection of baseball signatures from 1925-1929. Our consignor's mother, Mrs. Loretta Roth(Watt), owned cigar stands inside the distinguished Ryan and St. Paul hotels in the Minneapolis area. She befriended Grace Comiskey(daughter in-law to Charles), and due to her love and knowledge of baseball, was given "all access" to players of the time. We are proud to offer this amazing find with some simply remarkable signatures including Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Alexander, and so many more!
