This lot brings together not the players of the Roaring 20's, but an ever elusive collection of their respective overseers. We're pleased to offer the signatures of American & National League Presidents, Ban Johnson and John Heydler, along with the Commissioner of Baseball Kenesaw Mountain Landis - c.1927. Never have we seen a collection which is composed of all three autographs being offered at one time. Johnson served as A.L. president from '01-'27 while Heydler held charge of the NL. in '09 and from '18-'34.' Kenesaw Landis was the Commissioner of Baseball from 1920 until his death in 1944. Landis played an instrumental part in the banishment of eight players from the 1919 "Black Sox Scandal" including the infamous Joe Jackson.

While Kenesaw is certainly the tougher signature of the three to locate due to his earlier death, Johnson and Heydler are relatively difficult as well. These signatures hold even more validity as their signings were done during the 1927 season, one which saw great hope in baseball and produced one of the greatest teams of all time. All three pennings are extremely crisp and register '8-9' in strength. The Landis is inscribed "Good Wishes to Ms Loretta Watt." The pages measure approx. 5" x 7.5", in excellent condition with some folding and tac holes present. Just an amazing group of signatures, perhaps never to be found again! The Roth Collection consists of a large collection of baseball signatures from 1925-1929. Our consignor's mother, Mrs. Loretta Roth(Watt), owned cigar stands inside the distinguished Ryan and St. Paul hotels in the Minneapolis area. She befriended Grace Comiskey(daughter in-law to Charles), and due to her love and knowledge of baseball, was given "all access" to players of the time. We are proud to offer this amazing find with some simply remarkable signatures including Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Alexander, and so many more!
