Are you looking to break into the vintage signed baseball collecting foray? If so, this is a fantastic lot to start with it! Offered is a 1929 New York Yankees autographed team ball with several signatures, however the majority are too faint to discern their names. Alas, there is one name on the ball everyone knows - Babe Ruth. 'The Bambino' has scripted his customary sweet spot position in black fountain pen. Other known signatures on the ball include Tony Lazzeri (HOF) and pitcher Eddie Wells according to the JSA LOA. We feel that Lou Gehrig has also signed the ball just below Lazzeri's signature as seen in the image below. (Note: JSA did not opine if Gehrig is in fact on the ball, this is just our assessment.) This red and green stitched Reach Official American League baseball, along with the signatures that reside on it, are relegated to poor-fair condition. Still a great pick-up for the beginning collector or even one that has it all! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication(JSA).
The Roth Collection consists of a large collection of baseball signatures from 1925-1929. Our consignor's mother, Mrs. Loretta Roth(Watt), owned cigar stands inside the distinguished Ryan and St. Paul hotels in the Minneapolis area. She befriended Grace Comiskey(daughter in-law to Charles), and due to her love and knowledge of baseball, was given "all access" to players of the time. We are proud to offer this amazing find with some simply remarkable signatures including Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Alexander, and so many more!
