The signature on the card is stunning and placed with perfection. As for the condition of the card, we find modest wear to the corners and edges with some creasing. More importantly, the colors are pure and vivid, true as the day it was printed. The back is of the Sweet Caporal, 350 subject variety with some light pencil marks. The beauty is that the card itself is just one piece of this extraordinary puzzle. There is a magnificent letter accompanying this treasure, dated 3/9/57, which speaks of the very card itself. Cobb writes, "Thanks for your solicitations...Find enclosed autographed card as you requested." Then we find the postal return receipt, also signed "Ty Cobb" indicating his acceptance of Mr. Keener's autograph request. On the reverse of the postal confirmation we find Mr. Thomas Keener's address at the time in North Carolina. The letter has typical mailing folds with a few tac holes and light staining to the top left corner - none of which detract from the splendor of this item.

With speculation of perhaps 10-20 Cobb autographed T206 cards in existence, we believe it is fair to say this particular one is at the top of the list with regard to provenance and all other factors considered. This piece comes directly from Mr. Keener's grandson, our consignor, along with a few other items which are also offered in this auction.
