Dizzy sure did have a mouth on him! And the fans loved to hear it too. One of the most celebrated players of his time, Dean certainly enjoyed his hey days with the "Gashouse Gang" of the 1930's St. Louis Cardinals. During his career, his accomplishments included a World Series win, an MVP award (one of only a few pitchers ever to receive), and several All-Star game appearances. His finest season came in 1934 in which he amassed over 300 innings pitched, a 2.66 ERA, and winning 30, yes thirty, ballgames. That was perhaps one of the finest seasons ever for any pitcher to play the game. This piece comes directly from the consignor himself who received this special relic as young boy in Mississippi; c.early 1960's. One of the best single signed Dean balls we've seen over the past couple of years that has come to auction, this ball has been strictly graded by PSA/DNA an EX/MT 6 overall (Ball:6, Auto:6). As you can see from the images below, one can easily differ with their judgment. This Official League ball has never been displayed and was tucked away all these years until recently. Just a vintage off-white color abounds. In our opinion, this ball borders on NRMT/Mint. The signature has been inked in vintage ballpoint pen. An absolutely gorgeous ball, worthy for any admirer. Sealed in a PSA/DNA protective cube. Accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
