Vintage Rarities II - Autographs, Cards, and Related Memorabilia
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on: 10/14/2010

This lot features a red laced Official American League baseball (Harridge), single-signed by Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby. The inscription reads to not just anyone, but of famed playwright, composer, and entertainer George M. Cohan. One of the founding members of the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and winner of the Congressional Gold Medal, Mr. Cohan wrote and directed several Broadway plays and was at the forefront during the Vaudeville days. It is noted that Mr. Cohan was a baseball enthusiast and regularly attended N.Y. Giants games while not working on Broadway. A few minor scuffs aside, the ball displays mild age-appropriate toning and is in EX/NrMt condition. The signature is strong, '6-7' in clarity. It is safe to say this piece is one-of-a-kind, and would fit very nicely into anyone's collection. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
