Lou Gehrig Autographed Sheet Music ~ c.1935 'I Can't Get To First Base With You.'
With only two other examples known to surface in the last twenty years, it is safe to assume there are very few of these laying around. This particular sheet music copy is complete and in excellent condition with age appropriate surface wrinkles along with surface and corner wear. Lou Gehrig has signed over his right forearm in fountain tip pen, '8' or better, above the facsimile signature. We love autographed items such as this one which crossover multiple collector interest areas. This particular sheet music, 'I Can't Get To First Base With You' from 1935 is notably hard to locate unsigned, let alone autographed by Gehrig. Offered for the very first time from our consignor who has owned this piece since she was a little girl when her mother received Gehrig's signature in person. A true collector item and one that must be given strong consideration
Our consignor mentioned that she believed this piece was signed by Gehrig at a radio station her mother used to work at in the 30's, but could not be certain. Just above Gehrig's right bicep, we find some pencil notations, part of which reads 'WXYZ' - a Detroit radio station call sign!
Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
